A New Beginning - When Tragedy Gives Life New Meaning

Feeling heard, understood and acknowledged. It could mean the first step to fueling the greatness within you.

If life is to be lived, it should be lived with great passion. Yet how many of us are living more than the daily grind? I used to be like that; finding it difficult to wake up most mornings. I dreaded another day, being overwhelmed with depression, anxiety, hopelessness and overwhelm. It didn’t help that the gemini in me wanted to pursue everything & pursue it all at once. Yet having been raised by a single mother whose life proved very difficult, I never understood these things previously. Now, as it’s my turn at living adulthood, I become increasingly more aware of the life my mother struggled with, along with nagging body pains of which I am no stranger.

I’m Kari Prabhakar, wife, homeschooling mama, author, Ayurvedic counselor & founder of Restored Sattva, a health counseling service rooted in gentle living. I support the healer in you by educating and guiding you and your family in the complimentary & alternative medicine of Ayurveda.

We all want to live and breathe a life lived to the fullest but sometimes we find it difficult to start or to keep going. I have learned how to fight in life, just as hard as I did as a young girl growing up in the ghettos of upstate New York. Yet, my fight today is smarter because see, it’s not how hard you can fight, or how hard you can hit but how hard you can get hit and still move forward. Thanks Rocky Balboa for that one. Learning how to move forward in life is a great skill to be learned & starts with the soul decision to never give up.

My mother and the tragic story of her life and death, while so special to me, is not unique. There are millions of us who are struggling to thrive and most of us are so desperately wanting to be heard, understood, accepted and acknowledged.

I’ve always been a passionate housewife yet as life unfolded & expanded, so did my reality & my vision for living. After the suicide of my mother (46), I held the courage to pursue purpose behind the pain & to dig deeper into existing. I went back to college & entered the dietetics program and took to studying

Ayurveda the same year while creating my own business at the age of 30 (I’m 32 at the time of this writing). Being 27 at the time of my mother’s death, I saw myself slowly rise from a pain I didn’t think I could rise from. Seeing her struggle so much in life & having been a victim of mental and emotional trauma myself, led me to pursue the life I now live & fight for.

I welcome you to Restored Sattva, where I pursue the very things I teach in my work - joy in life, peace with God, purpose in work, and hope for the future, because you are worth it. Connect with me here and YouTube for more inspiration and encouragement for your life’s journey.
