cooking rice

The next time you cook rice, try cooking it with ghee and mineral salt. Doing so improves absorption of nutrients, aids in the digestive process, and provides the necessary lubrication our body systems need. For centuries, ghee has been considered the most pure and sacred oils for consumption. Sattvic (balancing) in quality, ghee enhances nutrient absorption, bringing them deeper into the tissues. Suitable and recommended for everyone, especially the young, the old, diabetics, and those seeking improved cardiovascular health. Scientific studies are now showing that ghee is indeed good for us. Ghee has many benefits such as containing medium chain fatty acids. These fats are absorbed quickly by the liver and sufficiently utilized by the body. Linoleic acid, an essential polyunsaturated fatty acid found in ghee, is rich in nutrients and necessary for mitchochondrial function. Thinking of skipping the salt? Salt is a gift from nature, and is necessary in our diet, when used appropriately. Making sure to cook the salt rather than adding it to foods, will bring balance to the body. Mineral salt, or rock salt, contains trace minerals and is the most advised salt to use according to Ayurveda. Cooking with mineral salt enhances flavor, helps regulate blood pressure, and promotes better absorption of foods by stimulating digestive enzymes and softening food for better assimilation. Try cooking your basmati rice (or any rice) with a bit of salt and a healthy scoop of ghee, and see for yourself the benefits.
