Self-care

/self-care

Skin is more than just the largest organ of the body. It is our expression to the outside world telling to look at me, look at my scars, my graceful aging. Each line saying, “I showed up for life.” Each tracing of our curves holding memories.

Taking the time, daily, weekly, to care for the body that provides this life experience for us, is a part of what Ayurveda calls dinacharya, or our daily routine. Our dinacharya is the most important thing we could choose to maintain in life should we desire to have mental, emotional, and physical well-being. This new year, I am getting back to giving great attention to my dinacharya and that includes applying beautiful and pure clay to my skin weekly as well as strengthening herbal oils.

Nourishing ourselves, including caring for our skin, causes us to slow down. By giving ourselves moments that are filled with gentleness and love, we are able to let that “in pouring” become an outpouring.

I have been using Evan Healy exclusively for several years. Her products are, the purest thing we could put on our skin. She considers not only the synergistic truth of body, mind, and soul, creating products that work with what our skin is made of (oil and water), not only is she hands on with her work; not only does she maintain relationships with co-ops around the world, sourcing her earth ingredients with incredible care, she has created a skin care routine that is incredibly simple yet enormously ritual in spirit. Find yourself some pure products and use them consistently to bring healing into your body. Thankful for @EvanHealy and for the teachings of Ayurveda, giving us the tools to care for our whole being so that we are better able to withstand in this life, with joy.
